Below is the Surf Ballroom series.

The Surf Ballroom, Clear Lake, Iowa.

Memorial to Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, J. P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson and their pilot, all of whom died on February 3, 1959 after the rock 'n' rollers played what turned out to be their last shows at the Surf Ballroom.

The dance floor and stage.

Pine booths with Formica-top tables line two sides of the dance floor.

There's a memorial plaque and photos in an alcove inside the entryway.

The plaque.

A broad range of musicians have played at the Surf. Photos of them line several walls.

The three stars who died in the plane crash.

Dion (left) chose to travel to the tour's next venue by bus rather than plane.

This is either Buddy Holly or somebody who was doing a very good job of looking like him. The display was unclear on this point.
